A Macon-based swimming pool franchise company has expanded its facility and added new employees.

ASP - America's Swimming Pool Company. recently added more than 4,000 square feet to its existing building at 3986 Lake St. for a total of about 7,000 square feet of space, according to a news release. The expansion included adding about 4 acres to the site that originally was less than an acre.

The company added a new office building, a state-of-the-art training facility and four new training swimming pools.

It also expanded its staff with two new employees in 2013 and one so far this year, the release stated. It plans to add three to five more workers this year.

The company currently has nine employees.

The company offers various maintenance programs, pump and filter replacements and does swimming pool renovations.

“ASP started here in Macon, and I feel that keeping ASP local is the best fit for both the city and the company,” founder and CEO Stewart Vernon said in the release.

The company was founded in 2001 and began franchising in 2005. It serves 200 cities in 16 states, the release stated.
