Swimming Pool Safety Fences in Edmond
Pool Safety Planning Backed by National Swimming Pool Foundation Credentials
At ASP - America's Swimming Pool Company of Edmond, we install a pool safety fence as a vertical, non-climbable barrier designed to restrict unsupervised access by children or pets. A properly planned fence and gate system separates the swimming area from the rest of the yard while preserving a clear point of entry.
We assess your pool’s shape, surrounding layout, access points, and gate needs so you can choose a suitable system. A safety fence adds an important layer of protection, but it doesn’t replace adult supervision or other water-safety practices.

How Fence & Gate Features Work Together
The entire barrier should work as one system. Fence height, climb resistance, openings, and gate operation all affect how access to the pool area is controlled.
Features available for a fence and gate system include:
- Vertical barrier: The fence creates a defined separation between the residential swimming pool and other areas of the property.
- Non-climbable design: The barrier is designed to limit features that could provide climbing opportunities.
- Four-to-five-foot height: Pool safety fences are generally four to five feet tall, subject to the requirements that apply to the property.
- Adaptable configuration: The fence can be adjusted to accommodate different pool shapes and layouts.
- Self-latching access: A self-latching gate supports controlled entry each time the gate closes.
- Lockable entry: A lockable key gate provides another way to secure the designated access point.
Gate placement deserves particular attention because every swimmer, guest, and service technician uses that opening. During the inspection, we can help you consider visibility, convenient access, and how the gate fits into the overall barrier layout.
Edmond Pool Barrier Requirements
Edmond’s published requirements generally call for a residential pool barrier at least 48 inches above grade, meaning the adjacent surface level. Clearance beneath the barrier is limited, and openings must be small enough that a four-inch sphere can’t pass through them.
Published requirements also state that pedestrian access gates must accommodate a locking device, open away from the pool, and be self-closing and self-latching. The gate release mechanism generally must be at least 54 inches from the bottom of the gate, although alternative placement rules may apply.
If a wall of the home forms part of the barrier, doors with direct pool access may require alarms, or the pool may need a compliant power safety cover. Because requirements can vary by property and may change, homeowners should confirm current rules with the City of Edmond before installation. Permit approval and code compliance remain subject to local review.
Pool-Service Knowledge Behind Your Fence Installation
A pool barrier isn’t an isolated backyard feature. Its placement must account for the pool, surrounding deck, routine access, and how the swimming area is used. Our experience across pool installation, remodeling, repairs, and cleaning gives us a practical understanding of those considerations.
Our certified pool experts have credentials through the National Swimming Pool Foundation, and our certified, experienced, and insured pool technicians undergo rigorous training and background checks. That preparation shapes how we assess access points, discuss gate placement, and carry out the installation.
Start With a Professional Review of Your Pool Area
Schedule a free pool inspection to review your layout, barrier placement, and preferred gate access. Before the visit, consider who needs protection, how people currently enter the swimming area, and which existing features the barrier must accommodate.
We can help you choose a fence and gate system based on your property and access needs. Our recommendations draw on broader pool-service experience while leaving permit and code decisions to local authorities.
