Pool Resurfacing & Replastering in Little Rock
Restore Your Pool’s Surface with Little Rock’s Certified Pool Professionals
Pool surfaces don’t last forever. Age, Arkansas weather, chemical exposure, and organic debris all take a toll on the interior finish, leaving pools looking worn and, eventually, feeling rough underfoot. ASP - America's Swimming Pool Company of Little Rock offers professional pool resurfacing and replastering as part of a full-service remodeling offering, backed by the nation’s largest swimming pool franchise and delivered by a locally owned and operated team that knows this area.
Founded in 2002 and now operating across over 250 locations in 22 states, ASP brings national resources to every local project. Every Certified Pool Operator on our team passes background checks, drug screenings, and the National Swimming Pool Foundation CPO® exam before working on a single project. Not sure what your pool’s surface actually needs? We offer free inspections so you can find out before committing to anything.

Signs Your Pool Needs Resurfacing
Most homeowners notice something’s off before they know what to call it. These five signs are worth taking seriously, because catching them early can reduce the scope of the repair.
- Flaking or peeling plaster: When pool water sustains low pH or low calcium levels over time, it dissolves calcium hydroxide from the plaster surface. Once the plaster begins to flake, replastering is the only fix.
- Surface stains: Copper, calcium, and organic matter (leaves, tree nuts, and tannin-heavy plants) all leave stains. An acid wash resolves minor cases, but widespread or recurring staining typically means the surface needs to be replaced.
- Roughness: Low alkalinity and calcium levels etch the surface over time. Depending on severity, we can smooth rough spots through sanding, acid washing, or chelation (a chemical process that binds and removes mineral deposits) before applying a new surface.
- Structural cracks: These should be inspected by a professional as soon as possible. Crazing (small, superficial cracks) can develop from extreme-temperature construction conditions or delayed refilling after a remodel and is distinct from deeper structural damage.
- Plaster discoloration: Uneven water content during application, inconsistent plaster thickness, leaving a pool empty before refilling, or poor water chemistry balance can all cause discoloration that no amount of cleaning will resolve.
Three Resurfacing Materials to Choose From
We offer three surface materials, each with a different profile for durability, appearance, and cost. Our team offers free consultations to help you choose the one that fits your priorities.
Plaster
Plaster forms the protective layer between pool water and the underlying concrete shell. It directly affects water color, light reflectivity, and the overall look of the pool. We offer Plaster in a range of colors and designs, including white plaster, a blend of white cement and white marble that gives pools their classic, clean look.
Pebble
Pebble surfaces combine smooth stones and round aggregates in cement, offering rich color combinations and a 15- to 20-year lifespan on average. They’re highly resistant to chemical corrosion and staining, and while the upfront cost is higher than standard Plaster, the reduced maintenance and longer service life can make up the difference.
Concrete
Concrete is durable and versatile, and it can be finished in any color. It’s a practical choice for homeowners who want a long-lasting surface with broad aesthetic flexibility.
How We Resurface Pools: 6 Steps
Every pool resurfacing project follows the same six-step process. Skipping or rushing any stage can lead to premature delamination or surface failure, so we don’t cut corners.
- Draining the pool: We drain the pool in compliance with local regulations governing water removal.
- Cleaning the pool: Pressure washing or acid washing removes algae, stains, and buildup from the bare shell.
- Prepping the pool’s surface: We identify and remove hollow spots, then repair any cracks before the new material goes on.
- Priming the surface: A bonding agent is applied to ensure the new surface material adheres properly to the existing shell.
- Finishing the surface: Once the bonding agent has dried, we apply your chosen surface material evenly across the interior.
- Drying and refilling: Depending on the surface type, refilling begins immediately or after one to three days of curing time.
Each of our Certified Pool Operators passes background checks, drug screenings, and the National Swimming Pool Foundation CPO® exam before entering the field. With two decades in the industry, we bring the training and equipment these projects require.
Resurfacing vs. Full Replacement
Unless a pool has significant underlying structural problems, full demolition isn’t necessary. Resurfacing addresses the effects of harsh chemicals, weather, and debris, replacing a stained or faded interior with a fresh surface without tearing anything out. Most cosmetic and moderate surface-level problems can be resolved this way. Our team can assess your pool’s current condition and give you an honest read on what the situation actually calls for.
The Best Time to Schedule Pool Resurfacing in Little Rock
Cooler months, when the pool isn’t in use, are generally the ideal window for resurfacing work. Winter (short of extreme cold) works well because the pool sits empty anyway, contractors tend to have more scheduling flexibility, and moderate temperatures support proper curing for most surface materials. Timing your project during the off-season means the pool can be ready to go when warm weather returns. We can assess your surface now and help you plan around your schedule.
What Pool Resurfacing Costs in Little Rock
Pool resurfacing has generally ranged from $10 per square foot to $12 per square foot of total interior area in recent years. That’s a market average, not a fixed quote. Your actual cost will depend on your pool’s size and shape, the condition of the existing surface, and the material you choose. Pebble and premium finishes cost more upfront than standard Plaster but tend to reduce long-term repair frequency.
We work with our customers’ budgets to build a remodeling plan that makes sense. Financing is also available for homeowners who want to spread the cost. Contact us for a free consultation to talk through the scope and what it’s likely to involve.
